THE STORY

Set within a private gated 55+ neighborhood, our designers were tasked to create one-story ranch style homes with plans that evolve with buyer needs. In order to make a small home feel big and livable, special attention was paid to utilizing natural light, storage opportunities and allowing for flexibility within the home. Our goal was to create a unique “aging in place” home for 55+ homebuyers that desire flexible living spaces and resort-style living.

Accomplishment: To maximize the density and create a strong street scene, our designers used a hybrid 6-unit cluster of attached and detached product. This allows flexibility for a more private configuration and helps meet the density requirement while also providing more movement to the street scene. The vibrant exterior style combines San Juan Capistrano’s Spanish heritage with modern influences and seamlessly blends within the surrounding community. With a focus on indoor/outdoor living, each home features open interiors with 1,278 to 1,860 square feet of living space and abundant natural light. A functional great room, which leads to a gourmet kitchen and dining area is perfect for entertaining. In order to meet the needs of diverse buyers, Plan 2X offers a second-floor option which not only provides the buyer additional living space but serves to strengthen the neighborhood’s curb appeal thru enhanced massing opportunities and architectural character. Plan 2/2x is positioned adjacent to the street edge on a fairly consistent basis, therefore it was important that this home is varied with an architecturally unpredictable spirit…setting a tone for the community as a whole.
