DANVILLE TOWN CENTER

Award-Winning Downtown Development

We believe design must be contextual. In the case of the refurbished Danville town center, the design honors the heritage of the site while revitalizing the downtown area. WHA partnered with Castle Companies to restore the historic, almost 130-year-old, Danville Hotel, and McCauley House and introduce new mixed-use buildings and parking to the area.

The objective of this project was to integrate all the elements as if they had been there for decades. The elevations needed to appear as a series of older traditional mixed-use buildings of the past, with contemporary residential units on the upper floor. After a 7-year entitlement process, this was the first residential/retail mixed-use project ever approved in Danville.

This project was embraced by the community and has rejuvenated its small downtown area, which led to its acknowledgment as the Project of the Year at the 2016 PCBC Gold Nugget Awards show.
