Glenborough is one of five boroughs in the new community of Easton, a mixed-use master plan in Sacramento County. Encompassing approximately 6,000 acres, the 1,400-acre Glenborough site was used for mining in the 19th and 20th centuries and then by Aerojet-General (now Aerojet Rocketdyne) for rocket testing. The property was primarily a buffer area for Aerojet-General operations, with the tailing piles left by the earlier gold dredging acting as a natural barrier for rocket motor testing. The mined areas are interspersed with several prominent natural features that will be preserved and enhanced. These features include a blue oak woodland, Alder Creek and its associated riparian and upland areas, and several other vegetated open space areas that extend through the borough. These open space “fingers” facilitate wildlife movement and pedestrian access.

WHA prepared residential design guidelines for this first phase for approximately 980 homes in 11 Villages. In order to ensure quality homes, an extensive design review submittal process was developed for builders prior to submittal to the County for review. Sustainable landscape guidelines were developed to enhance this community, and specific criteria and guidelines for products and architectural styles were created for this unique place.
