THE STORY

This cul-de-sac sited residence rests on a sloped, estate lot with limited, buildable pad and astonishing views.  A heritage oak tree anchors the L-shaped footprint that shelters the pool/court area and directs views toward Mount Diablo.  Loggia strengthens court form; enhances indoor/outdoor transitions.  Architectural details and outdoor orientation accentuate living/dining; an arched entry distinguishes their uses.  Gourmet kitchen placement is strategic, as is secluded master suite with retreat and accessible library.

Single-story street presentation resolves strict height limitations, requiring lower level design where built-ins and enhancements mimic main level’s design caliber. Spanish Colonial architecture reflects area’s heritage and climate; exterior materials are appropriate to this vernacular and homeowner’s casual, rustic lifestyle.
